Welcome to Kaikorai Valley College
A year 7-13 co-educational school in the city of Dunedin, located ten minutes from the city centre.

As a medium-sized college, we can ensure that every student receives the best possible support so that they can achieve personal excellence in their academic, cultural or sporting interests. Kaikorai Valley College is well known for the friendliness of its staff and students.
The College is in a beautiful park-like area surrounded by trees and a stream, two sports fields and extensive green areas. We have a school Urban Farm onsite which includes an orchard, beehives, chicken coop, animals, vegetable plots and other plants. Students can take an agriculture course learning how to care for animals, plants, fruit trees, build structures and look after the environment. The farm space is used extensively for learning purposes across many subject areas. It is a popular learning environment with our students and is very unique in Dunedin.
Students studying at Kaikorai Valley College can live in the city while also experiencing a New Zealand farm experience.
All students are expected to achieve to their academic potential. Kaikorai Valley College has the highest NCEA Level 3 pass rate for Co-educational schools in Dunedin. Our College holds a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Otago to support educational pathways for international students through high school and onto tertiary study at the University.
Outdoor Education is a subject available to International Students in years 12 and 13. Students who take Outdoor Education as a subject participate in weekly outdoor trips and experiences around the local community. Activities such as kayaking, tramping, mountain biking, rock climbing, abseiling, sand boarding, bush craft, First Aid. Students also learn about risk management, goal setting, communication, leadership, teamwork and environment awareness.
Students can join multiple clubs, such as chess club, crochet club, dungeons and dragons, creative writing, maths club, farm club, running group. A variety of drama and music clubs are offered, including school productions, choir, rock bands, theatre sports, Shakespeare festival and Kapa Haka.
Throughout the year we offer 37 different sporting teams
Service and leadership opportunities include the environmental committee, health committee, formal committee, SADD (Students against Dangerous Driving), student council, peer support, student leadership team, lunch committee, road patrol, librarian. Students can earn a SVA (Student Volunteer Army) service badge.
All International students stay in Homestays. The homestay can be within walking distance of our school. For homestays that are further away students come to school either with the family or by bus.
Our international Department consists of specialist staff who care and support our International students.
Students come to New Zealand for many different reasons. At Kaikorai Valley College we are able to cater for the very wide variety of needs. Some students come for academic purposes, and to establish a pathway on to tertiary education, while others come to experience the outdoors and the many opportunities we offer that they may not get to experience back home.
Students can come for only a few weeks, while others may stay up to five years and then go on to tertiary education. At Kaikorai Valley College we place no limitations on the length of time students come for, or the date that they begin their studies, they can arrive at any time of the year.
We do promise that all students will have amazing experiences that will be life changing and will return home with a much broader view of the world.
